The record since

  • 20 Jul 26 No. 20 · revised to 55%
Kuwait's power and desalination plant was hit for a second consecutive day and Bahrain absorbed further interceptions, but no military or civilian fatality has yet been confirmed in Bahrain, Kuwait, or Qatar.
  • 22 Jul 26 No. 22 · revised to 60%
Iran struck U.S.-linked sites in Bahrain (Sheikh Isa Air Base accommodation, an Amazon data facility) and launched drone attacks on three U.S. bases in Kuwait on July 21-22, the most direct hits on host-nation soil yet, though no military or civilian fatality in Bahrain, Kuwait, or Qatar has been confirmed.

What would overturn it

A confirmed death (military or civilian) in Bahrain, Kuwait, or Qatar attributed to Iranian strikes, as opposed to further property damage or shrapnel injuries only.

The verdict

Hit  Resolved 3 Aug 26.

Kuwait reported a fatality: an Iranian strike on July 30 hit a Chinese company's building in northern Kuwait, killing a subcontractor worker, per Kuwait's Defense Ministry and the Chinese Embassy — satisfying the call within the window (Qatar's July 17 shrapnel injuries did not rise to a fatality).

As logged at issue

Gulf blowback: Qatar, Kuwait, and Bahrain have all absorbed Iranian strikes this week, with a child already wounded by shrapnel in Doha — it's roughly a coin flip that one of these U.S.-basing hosts reports an actual fatality from Iranian fire within two weeks. Two more weeks of only property damage and minor injuries would say this lean was wrong.
