Europe's Atlantic ‘cocaine highway’ prompts calls for engine-disabling interdiction tactics
So what? A pivot from container concealment to fast speedboat runs makes the smuggling harder to catch at ports and pushes enforcement further out to sea, which is exactly the shift a stepped-up interdiction posture is meant to counter. If European governments do adopt engine-disabling boarding tactics, it would mark the sharpest escalation yet in how the EU polices its Atlantic approach — worth watching for whether it pushes trafficking routes further south toward West Africa instead.
