Casablanca Hosts INTERPOL Training on Human Trafficking, Migrant Smuggling for Morocco, Tunisia
So what? A joint Morocco-Tunisia training track under a standing INTERPOL project builds exactly the kind of investigator-to-investigator relationships and shared methodology that speed future liaison and case referrals across the Maghreb’s migrant-smuggling corridors. It’s also worth watching for whether HIMAYA expands this train-the-trainer model to other North African partners as smuggling routes through the region keep shifting.

Bodies Recovered From Tunisia Migrant-Boat Sinking as Death Toll Disputed
So what? The gap between Tunisia’s own security service and an independent rights monitor over how many of the missing are already dead is itself a signal of how thin verification is on this stretch of coast — expect the count to keep moving as more bodies are recovered rather than settling quickly. Médenine’s emergence as a launch point, rather than the more heavily monitored Sfax corridor, points to smugglers testing less-patrolled Tunisian coastline that Italian and EU maritime surveillance will need to extend further south to cover.
