Colombia's Santa Marta armed shutdown set to lift after cartel remnant's 72-hour blockade
So what? The group's own announced end to the shutdown is a tactical retreat, not a defeat: Los Pachencas retains the coastal foothold and extortion economy that let it paralyze a regional capital for three days, and this week's security gains will erode quickly once troops draw down. A cartel remnant demonstrating it can still shut down a major Caribbean port city on short notice is the more durable signal for cargo security than this particular blockade's end.
