No. 119 · Tuesday, 27 October 2026
Mexican truckers led by CANACAR begin an indefinite national strike over highway crime and a smaller toll tax credit
So what? With most groups at the table and no crossing closed, the likely effect is slower truck arrivals at the northern border rather than a halt in cargo. A deal that restores the tax-credit ceiling but leaves cargo theft and extortion untouched would end the strike and keep the underlying problem in place.

Mexican Truckers Blockade US Border Crossings Over Mass B-1 Visa Revocations
So what? Calexico-Mexicali alone carries roughly 1,255 trucks and $2 billion in trade a year, so a blockade spreading to Tijuana or Nogales would hit a far larger share of cross-border freight than this week's disruption. The dispute turns on how US officers define cabotage at inspection, so expect continued friction in primary and secondary lanes even after this round of protests ends.
