EU ministers call Ceuta a border "stress test" passed, but the death toll keeps splitting and Italy's Schengen suspension holds

Illegal ImmigrationSpainMoroccoItaly
So what?  The "stress test passed" framing is really an argument for the status quo — modest money, no structural EU mechanism change — which leaves the harder fight over a formal Schengen-suspension tool unresolved rather than settled. The more consequential thread for screening is the criminal-exploitation review: if Spain confirms even one case, it hands Italy's suspension camp evidence it currently lacks to force a bloc-wide response.
